1. Silicone Teether Ring
This silicone teething ring is a baby gift must! It is made of silicone and wood, making is safe for babies to be chewing on. The round shape with a large hole in the middle makes it easy for babies to grip onto. Because it has textured silicone rounds on all sides it is easy for baby to find one and feels great on their gums. My son loved this teether and we took it on every trip.
2. Indestructible Books
Indestructible Books are the perfect book for babies. They are just that, indestructible! Your baby can chew, pull and crinkle the pages all day without ruining the book. They are paper thin, so a perfect book to travel with as well. There are dozens of book themes available as well. For more books to gift your toddler, check out my Amazon board book list.
3. Silicone Toy Straps
If you want to travel with snacks and toys with ease or are just tired of you baby throwing everything to the ground, these are the best! Silicone toy straps can attach to just about anything from your stroller to your own finger, making it so whatever they throw never hits the ground. I can’t believe it took me as long as it did to purchase these, because I definitely use them daily.
4. Suction Fidget Spinners
These suction spinners are a must for home and travel! They can attach to airplane windows, bathtubs, restaurant tables and more. I always have at least one in the bottom of the diaper bag I can pull out. They are also fun to hold onto the suction cup and let your baby make them spin.
5. Rattle Ball
This rattle ball is the perfect toy for young babies just learning to use their grip. It’s easy to grab on to and because it makes rattle sounds when they move it, it helps draw in their interest. They will eventually start tossing it, even on accident, and it’s a fun engaging moment to be able to roll it back to them.
6. Black and White Flash Cards
Babies cannot see clearly or in color when they are first born. Using black and white high contrast photos like these cards is the best way to help their eyesight develop. I would go through these with my son at least 1-2 times a day during his awake windows and he was always so engaged with them. As he got older I purchased the second set that had the color red incorporated, which is the first color they start to see.
7. Natural Rubber Teether
If you’d prefer to use natural rubber teethers instead of silicone, wood or plastics then this bear teether is a great option! The large hole in the middle makes it easy to grasp and there is a texture to the bear, making it feel good on their gums.
8. Black and White Crinkle Book
Fabric crinkle books are a wonderful toy option for babies. This black and white crinkle book is great because it incorporates some color for when their eyes develop more with the high contrast black and white. It is also interactive with flaps and mirrors. Fabric books are great because babies can freely explore them and the texture of the book without damaging them. And most can simply go in the wash for a good clean when needed.
9. Woodland Fabric Book
This woodland fabric book is a fun soft book to use as your baby’s eyes start to see color more clearly. The pages all have a different texture on each animal for them to explore as well. Babies always seem to be drawn to clothing and toy tags, which this book also included for them to touch.
10. Animal Teething Mitt
Young babies are always sucking on their hands and don’t quite have the coordination to get a teether in their mouth. This animal teething mitt is a perfect way to let them explore a new texture safely. Because it goes over their hand, they can easily get it into their mouth over handheld teethers. It also gives them something fun and new to look at. The mitt also has a handful of other patterns/animals to pick from.
Gifts Under $20
11. Stacking Cups
These stacking cups are a fun toy for various stages of infancy. They can be a teether for younger babies, a bath toy as they get more hand grasping or simply a stacking toy to learn fine motor skills with. We have had these since my son was born and they continue to be a toy he uses well into being a toddler now.
12. Montessori Sensory Pull Toy
If I had to label a toy “best baby toy” then this would be my pick! This sensory pull toy was my son’s favorite. We took in on every trip and his ability to use it was constantly developing and improving. I was able to attach it to things like his stroller by putting the end of one string through the hole of the other. This made it even easier to travel with. It is a great toy at helping babies work on their fine motor skills or a soft teether. We loved it so much we bought it a second time so we had two!
13. Silicone No-Drop Teether
Because babies can’t easily grip teethers, this no-drop teether is a great option to help them. You can help them grip the bar inside if they can’t do it themselves quite yet and since its on their hand they will easily be able to get this teether into their mouth. It also had a fun texture which will feel good on their gums. The teether comes in various colors and objects.
14. Silicone No-Spill Snack Cup
Once your baby starts doing solids, this is a great travel container for them. Simply put whatever age appropriate snack they are eating inside the no-spill snack cup and they can independently reach inside and feed themselves. I use the silicone toy straps above to attach it to my stroller or hiking backpack.
15. Stackable Snack Cups
This had been my go-to snack container for local outings, hiking and airport travel! Instead of having bags of various snacks around I just fill up my stackable snack cup with whatever I want to bring and it’s all stores in one easy to access place. The containers all come apart so you can bring one, two or all of them. Because they are clear your baby and toddler can have some independence in seeing and choosing what they want to eat. These also come in various colors and sets.
16. Shape Sorter
A shape shorter is the prefect way to encourage your child’s fine motor development as well as learning about shapes. It’s also a good toy at learning to problem solve as the shape most likely won’t fit the first few times they try. My son mostly just put the shapes in and out of the large hole and over time has developed his ability to match the shapes.
17. Barefoot Sock Shoes
Children’s feet and arches don’t fully develop until they are much older, so it is best to let them go barefoot as much as possibly. Once they start walking you may want to use shoes at various times. These barefoot sock shoes are such a great option that are extremely flexible and allow your child’s foot to freely develop still. Barefoot shoes are always the best option over regular shoes until at least the age of two, if not longer.
18. Stacking Rings
Stacking rings are a fun toy for babies and toddlers. The hole inside makes them easy for a baby to explore and grab onto. They may not be able to stack them right away but they can watch you and over time develop that fine motor skill. This set also comes with multiple color options.
19. Color Changing Bath Book
A color changing bath book is such a fun way to bring visual stimulation and reading into the bathtub in a way that won’t ruin a good book. This book in particular changes color in the water! You can read to your baby so they get exposed to more language all while enjoying these high contrast photos. We have a few of these now and my son still loves them!
20. Silicone Teething Ball
This silicone ball is a great toy for babies as they can’t easily grasp objects yet. We often attached ours with the silicone straps above to the stroller. It also comes in 5 colors.
21. Tummy Time Floor Mirror
Tummy time is encouraged from day one in some capacity for babies, so this tummy time floor mirror is a perfect toy to help your baby enjoy it more. A silicone puzzle is the prefect way to introduce a baby to puzzles since they will put everything in their mouth. This puzzle shows transportation vehicles and they have another version with the sun and cloud as well. Babies may not have the skills to put the pieces back in quite yet, but they will love taking the puzzle apart and exploring the pieces.
26. Rattle Socks and Wrist Toy
These wrist and sock rattle toys are such a fun way for baby to engage and become aware of their hands and feet. 29. Frog Pull Toy
Older babies and toddlers love being able to make things happen and pull toys are one of those joys. This frog pull toy is a fun option as they may see frogs on their outdoor adventures. A play gym is a must if you have a baby because it keeps them engaged if they are on the floor and can be changed out anytime. This wooden play gym comes with six hanging toys already and folds up to easily be stored away.
37. Walking Balance Bike
This is a must-have first bike for your baby! The walking balance bike bike says 12+ but my son was ready and able to ride by 10/11 months. Every baby will be different, but if yours seems ready it is a great bike for older babies to learn to use their legs and arms to make the bike move without being too unbalanced. It’s the perfect size for their tiny bodies and will help them transition to a balance bike, if that’s what you hope to use next. My son absolutely loves taking his bike everywhere.
