Being able to communicate with loved ones off push SOS for emergency help is worth every penny to have that piece of mind. This device can literally be the difference between life or death. If there as anything I regularly encourage someone to have, it is this.

Having a light yet durable tent is the ultimate gift for someone who loves to backpack. This Big Agnes ultralight tent is the one to get. This is a two person tent, but I personally love having a slightly larger tent despite the extra ounces. If weight is important, get the size for the number of people using it. If ounces are flexible, consider sizing up one for the comfort. I have this tent in the 3-person and it has been an amazing addition to my backpacking gear!

Nalgene is best for travel because it is lightweight unlike most stainless steel water bottles. I use one on almost all of my hikes and have various colors and sizes.
